Would anyone want an XMPP account here if I set up a server? It seems pretty lightweight and easy to run. It's a great protocol for 1 on 1 private messaging, and the MUCs (with their bots and bridges) seem extremely promising

Remember when Gtalk was XMPP? Sure, Googleware, but I think FB also maintained some level of XMPP support.

AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messsenger, FB Messenger, Google Talk -- XMPP is that.
